<br />O~?.lj41 <br /> <br />REPORT OF COLORADO RIVER COMMISSION OF NEVADA 31 <br /> <br />538.150 Legal advisers: Duties, compeusatiou of attorney gen- <br />eral's offioe. <br />1. 'rho attorney general and his duly appointed assistants and <br />deputies shaH be the legal advisers for the eommission. <br />2. In order to compensate the office of attorney general for serv- <br />ices rendered, the commission is directed, on or before the 1st day <br />of each month, to authorize the state controller to draw his warrant <br />in the sum fixed by contract in favor of the state treasurer, such sum <br />or money to be taken from the Colorado River commission fund. The <br />state treasurer sh all plaee such sum of money in the salary fund of <br />the offiee of the attorney general to be used to pay for the services <br />of the attorney general's office. <br />3. The mileage and living expenses away from the office of the <br />attorney general at the regular statutory state rate, together with <br />thc telephone and telegraph charges incurred by the attorney gen. <br />",'ai's office on behalf of the commission, shaH be charged directly <br />against the Colorado River commission fund. <br />[Part 9:71:1935; A 1951, 235]-(NRS A 1963, 742) <br /> <br />538.160 Duties of commission. Thc duties of the commission <br />shaH be: <br />1. To collect and arrange all data and information connected <br />with the Colorado River and its tributaries which may affect or be <br />of interest to the State of Nevada. <br />2. To represent and act for the State of Nevada in the negotia- <br />tion and execution of contracts, leases or agreements for the use or <br />exchang'e of power and for the use of electrical generating machin- <br />pry and power transmission lines both \vithin and outside of the <br />State of Nevada, but for use within the State of Nevada, and to pre- <br />sent the same- to the governor for his information and approval. The <br />commission shall not he prohibited from contracting for the supply <br />of electric energy to any corporation or cooperative created under <br />the laws of the State of Nevada that is being operated prineipally for <br />service to Nevada citizells and may be serving incidental energy to <br />eitizens of other states contiguous to its service area in the State of <br />Nevada. <br />3. '1'0 represent the State of Nevada in such interstate or other <br />conferences or conventions as may be called for the consideration of <br />the development of reclamation and power projects connected with <br />the Colorado River or its tributaries-, or in connection with Hoover <br />Dam or other federaHy operated dams. <br />4. To render the friendly cooperation of the State of Nevada to <br />such constructive enterprises as look to the conservation of the <br />waters of the Colorado R,iver aud its tributaries and the development <br />of power thereon. <br />5. To render friendly cooperation. to and to negotiate with, coop- <br />erate with, and invite industries for the purpose of establishing the <br />same within the State of Nevada. <br />6. To negotiate with the representatives of other states and the <br />United States in an endeavor to settle equitably and define the rights <br />of the states and of the United States in the water of the Colorado <br />River and its tributaries. <br />7. To make and enter into agreements, compacts or treaties <br />between the State of Nevada aud the States of Arizona, California, <br />Colorado, Nmv Mexico, Utah, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Wyo- <br />ming, either jointly or severally, which agreements, compacts or <br />treaties, however, will not become binding upon the State of Nevada <br />until ratified and approved by the legislature and governor of the <br />State of Nevada. <br />
