Drafted op-ed piece (guest editorial) for Grand Junction Daily <br />Sentinel to respond to negative editorials and stories previously <br />published in this newspaper, The piece was published July 10, 1994. <br /> <br />5, Sent direct mail piece offering newsletter to all participants of <br />three public meetings conducted by the Bureau of Reclamation in <br />southwest Colorado. Resulted in the expansion of the newsletter <br />mailing list by about 60 individuals from high-priority publics, <br /> <br />6. Developed fact sheet on the effects that critical habitat will have <br />on water development in the upper Colorado River Basin. Fact sheet <br />was distributed to all participants of a public meeting held by the <br />Service and Colorado Water Conservation Board meeting May 20, 1994, <br />on this subject. Developed written responses to questions that were <br />not answered at the meeting. These responses were sent to all <br />meeting participants in a follow-up letter from the Service's <br />deputy regional director. <br /> <br />7, Established clearinghouse of Recovery Program research documents at <br />Bureau of Reclamation library in Salt Lake City, <br /> <br />B, Designed and implemented a one-day media training workshop for <br />Recovery Program participants, Also produced comprehensive <br />information packet and video summarizing the training. <br /> <br />9, Provided file videotape of endangered fish to Service headquarters <br />in Washington, D,C" for use in B-roll footage on endangered <br />species. Footage is available for use by television stations across <br />the country. <br /> <br />10, Helped develop brochure on the Service's view of ecosystem <br />management, highlighting the Recovery Program as one of two model <br />efforts in the region, <br /> <br />11, Entered the I&E program in the communications contest of the <br />Colorado chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, Took <br />second place in the category of public affairs programs. <br /> <br />12, Prepared fact sheets on issues related to native and non-native <br />fish, with specific information on Blue Mesa and Flaming Gorge <br />dams, Fact sheets will be provided to reporters covering these <br />issues and will be used as background information for op-ed pieces, <br />news releases and other documents. <br /> <br />13, Currently working with non-native fish propagation coordinator to <br />place "excess" hatchery-raised endangered fish in aquariums <br />nationwide, averting the need to destroy as many fish while also <br />greatly increasing exposure of the program. <br /> <br />4 <br />
