VII, Recommendations:

The Information and Education Program continues to accomplish a great
deal and should be continued, The public involvement training to be
provided in FY 1995 should prove very useful, not just for public
affairs/information and education staff, but for all program
participants. It has become very clear that the responsibility for
communicating with the program's publics should be shared by all
program participants. It is highly recommended that Management
Committee members and other staff who participate in public meetings
make every effort to participate in the public involvement training.
Changes that come as a result of this training could go a long way
toward improving person-to-person communication and conflict
resolution.

For FY 1996, it also could be very beneficial to create a permanent
display somewhere. In the past, the I&E Committee has considered '
providing partial funding for a display at the Denver Museum of Natural
History or at a museum in Vernal, Utah. Another possibility would be
the new Ocean Journey aquarium under construction in Denver.

Suggested RIPRAP changes:

(Some of the items that have been identified in the RIPRAP could be
combined. However, if the same level of detail is retained, the
following changes should be made):

VI, INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS AND SUPPORT FOR THE ENDANGERED FISHES AND
THE RECOVERY PROGRAM.

Task VI,A, Conduct survey to measure public awareness of and attitudes
toward endangered Colorado River fish and the Recovery Program,

Omit, Survey completed in FY 1995, and in all likelihood will not be
repeated in the near future.

Task VI,B, Train Recovery Program managers and researchers in media
relations,

Omit, Media training was provided in FY 1994. It was attended by a few
researchers; no Management Committee members attended,

Task VI.C.
