Memorandun

To: Files

Subject: Response to letter of May 22, 1986, fran the Colorado Water
conservation Board, Department of Natural Resources, Denver, Colorado

57. Ccmrent:

P-10 Water Rights and Permits

The language suggested by Mr. Weber for the first paragraph should be replaced
by the following:

"On February 5, 1986, Reclamation obtained approval fran the Water Court for
Water Divisions 4 and 7 for a plan of augmentation and changes of water rights
in Case H-83CW45 and Case jp-83CW14 for the operation of the Paradox Valley
Unit."

Response:

The text has been change to reflect this ccmrent.

58. Ccmrent:

P-17 Environmental Consequences

The title to this paragraph appears to be incorrect since the paragraph still
deals with errployment.

Response:

This section is enti tled
addresses the effects, or
errployment in the unit area.

"Environmental
consequences

Consequences" because
of the proposed action,

it
on

59. Ccmrent:

P-17 Geology

The report should state the basis for the conclusion that "The geologic
effects. .. are considered minimal."

Response:

As stated in the assessment, the formation is expected to accept the brine
under the fracture pressure. Since formation water lS already brine, no
effects would occur to water quality. Good barriers to migration exist above
and below the formation, and no change in seismic activity is anticipated.
For these reasons, the effects were concluded to be minimal.

60.
