4. Water Quality--Water quality meets minimum criteria for primary
contact recreation except where such criteria could be exceeded by
natural background conditions and esthetics and capable of
supporting propagation of aquatic life normally adapted to habitat
of the stream.

The protective withdrawal for this section of the IX:llores River expired in
1981. At the most, the proposed test well would affect less than 0.9 mile of
the proposed wild and scenic river corridor. As yet, Congress has taken no
action on BIM's Wild and Scenic River recamtendations.

The effects of the deep-well injection testing program are SlJlllll3rized in
Table 1.
