<br /> <br />ARIZONA <br /> <br />NEVADA <br /> <br />ARIZONA <br /> <br />197B Storms <br /> <br />Several major storms in February and March 1978 caused severe <br />damage to many channels, streams and rivers in 13 counties. <br />Emergency work totalling $51. 2mi 11 ion has been funded. <br />About 220 of the proposed 325 contracts have been or will be <br />let by the end of December. The remaining contracts are <br />expected to be awarded by early March 1979. <br /> <br />1978 Fires <br /> <br />Three disasterous fires in Los Angeles County destroyed 500 <br />homes, businesses and other structures and 240 vehicles. <br />Emergency work consists of constructing 20 debris trap <br />stabilizers and seeding the burned areas. About $2.3 million <br />of emergency funds have been approved for this work. Eleven <br />of these structures are under construction and should be <br />completed in early January 1979. The remaining nine struc- <br />tures will be started in early January and completed in <br />February 1979. The County and City are constructing 12 of <br />these structures and Cleaning out 10 existing debris basins, <br />using their own funds. <br /> <br />FLOOD INSURANCE STUDIES <br /> <br />Santa Cruz County <br /> <br />Final flood insurance study meetings were held October 9, 1978, <br />at Patagonia, and October 10, 1978, at Nogales. <br /> <br />We completed review of Santa Cruz County Flood Insurance Study <br />Report as received from the FIA Technical Review Contractor. <br />Comments were provided to FlA. <br /> <br />Four flood insurance studies in Clark County, Nevada (cities <br />of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City) <br />have been completed and draft reports submitted to FlA. Work <br />on the Clark County Unincorporated Study will be completed <br />early in 1979. <br /> <br />FLOOD HAZARD ANALYSES <br /> <br />The Town of Benson <br /> <br />No change since last report. <br /> <br />C-32 <br />
