UTAH

ARIZONA

Dry Gulch Area Watershed

We received authorization to plan four small irrigation
improvement watersheds in the vicinity of Roosevelt, Utah.
They are within the UintahBasin Salinity Study Area.
Long-term agreements (LTA's) are being developed with the
landowners to cover all planned on-farm improvements.
These LTA's will include practices for enhancement of
wildlife habitat as mitigation measures for anticipated
adverse impacts. A draft work plan for the Martin Lateral
is scheduled to be developed by May 1979.

WATERSHED OPERATIONS

Buckhorn-Mesa Watershed

Progress has been made in the construction of the Spook Hill
Floodwater Retarding Structure.

Williams-Chandler Watershed

No change since last report.

Apache Junction-Gilbert Watershed

No change since last report.

RWCD (Roosevelt Water Conservation District Floodway)

The thirty-day review period for the final EIS was completed
September 20, 1978. The EPA has informed us that the final
EIS adequately assesses the environmental impact of the
proposed action and that EPA has no objection to proceeding
with the proposed action.

Further information has been provided to our Washington office
to help clarify impact of this project on prime farmland and
a downstream road crossing.

A cooperative agreement was agreed upon with Arizona State
University to obtain testing of spoil disposal areas for
the purpose of developing an archeological mitigation plan.
The agreement was signed in September 1978.

Harquahala Valley Watershed

Geology investigations were completed on the new alignment
of Saddleback Diversion.
