Federal Security Agency - The Public Health Service, in <br />cooperation with state water pollution control agencies, other Federal <br />agencies and municipalities and/or industries involved, is preparing <br />water pollution reports for 15 sub-basin areas in the AWR Basins which <br />inclUde information as to status of water pollution With respect to present <br />water use, existing stream conditions, water que.llty requireltilnts and <br />further correcti vo measures needed to attain desired improvements in <br />the streams. Eight of these will be completed by June 1, 1952. Most of <br />the data have been assembled for the ren:ain:1ng seven reports and these <br />will be published as soan after June 1 as possibl.e. <br /> <br />Work Groups <br /> <br />5. Navigation - Statements of possible solutions for the three <br />major streams---ar-e--expected by 30 April 1952. <br /> <br />6. Flood Control, Waterflow Retardatian,~llood Forecastin~ - <br />The l!laterial scheduled which is expected to be availabl.e on 30 April 1952 <br />is that diecussed tmder Federal Asencies, Department of the ArrDJ and <br />Department of Agriculture. <br /> <br />? Drainage - The schedul.ed items in this grouping, data from <br />local intereets as to facilities desired, and a proposed plan, are <br />briefly indicated in the "Possible Solutions" statelI:flIlts and are being <br />extended by continuing state coordinated action. Only goneral identifica- <br />tion of the larger problems is expected by 30 April. <br /> <br />8. Domestic and Industrial Water Supply - The Federal Security <br />Agency and the state agencies have prepared and distributed a preliminary <br />report "Present Municipal and Industrial Water Usee in the AWR Basins". <br />This report is being revised in light of comments by work group members <br />and the revised report will be distributed upon completion of those <br />revisions, probably April 30, 1952. <br /> <br />Each state, with the Federal Security Agency and the Department <br />of Commerce is estimating future mtmicipal and industrial water supply , <br />needs in the states of the AWR Basins. Maps of subeurface supply being <br />pl.'epared by the State and Federal Geological Surveys are in d:raft <br />stage. Possible eourcee of eurface eupply are reported in the statements <br />of possible solutions being dietributed. <br /> <br />9. Irrigation and Reclamation - The various statee as members of <br />the Irrigation and Reclamation Work Group accepted the task of preparing <br />inventories of existing and potential irrigation developments wi thin <br />each State. These inventories are complete for Arkansas, Keneas, Oklahoma, <br />New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana where no potential iITigation develop- <br />ments are reported.
