<br />DOLORE~PROJECT, COLORADO <br /> <br />Project Authorization and Planning Documentation: <br /> <br />Public Law and date: Colorado River Basin Act (Public Law <br /> <br />90-537), September 30, 1968. <br />Environmental Impact Statement: Int. DES 76-44, November 1, 1976 <br /> <br /> <br />FES scheduled for March or April of 1977, <br /> <br /> <br />Definite Plan Report: Scheduled for April of 1977. <br /> <br /> <br />Location (including Congressional District): <br /> <br />Montezuma and Dolores Counties in southwestern Colorado, <br /> <br />Congressional District No.3, represented by Congressman <br /> <br />Frank Evans. <br /> <br />Project Description and Purpose: <br /> <br />The Dolores Project would develop an average annual water supply of <br /> <br />126,600 acre-feet from the Dolores River to meet the present and future <br /> <br />needs of the project area, with 90,900 acre-feet for irrigation, 8,700 <br /> <br />acre-feet for municipal and industrial use, and 27,000 acre-feet for fish <br /> <br />and wildlife enhancement. The project would also provide recreational <br /> <br />facilities, aid in flood control, and contribute to the economic develop- <br /> <br />ment of the area, Service would be provided for the Dove Creek and <br /> <br />Montezuma Valley areas within the Dolores Water Conservancy District and <br /> <br />the Towaoc area within the Ute Mountain Ute Indian Reservation. <br />
