A portion of the work under <br />item no. 4 has been done by the Corps of Engineers. <br /> <br />Funds for a major portion of the remainder of the restoration work are <br />currently becoming available. <br /> <br />The work will be done by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and will be accom- <br />plished during the remainder of the calendar year. <br /> <br />Bureau of Indian Affairs <br />Area Office Phoenix <br /> <br />Construction is underway for the .Job Corps Camp at the San Carlos Indian <br />Reservation. The Camp will accommodate 200 enrollees, who are to <br />begin arriving in August. The total cost for completion of all necessary <br />construction at the San Carlos Center is estimated to be in excess of <br />$600,000. Enrollees at the San Carlos Center will perform a variety <br />of work, induding construction of livestock water ponds, roadside parks <br />and overnight camp sites: and rehabilitation of small irrigation ditches. <br /> <br />Staff for the Poston Job Co rps Center on the Colorado River Indian <br />Reservation has been partially recruited. Several buildings constructed <br />during World War II by Japanese-Americans .at the War Relocation Center <br />at Poston will be rehabilitated for part of the requirements of the 200- <br />enrollee Poston Job Corps Center. Total cost of buildings a.nd facilities <br />is estimated at $590,000. Work that enrollees at the Poston Center will <br />do includes fishery improvements on the Colorado River and on sloughs <br />and drains; construction of camp and picnic ground facilities; construc- <br />tion of water sport facilities: streambank protection; and construction of <br />irrigation facilitie.s and leveling of land. <br /> <br /> <br />22 <br /> <br />',. <br /> <br />': ., <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />- <br />
