The Santa .Rosa Wash Multiple Purpose Project of the Corps of Engineers
and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, on thePapagolndianReservation, has
been approved by the Bureau of the Budget. This project includes construc-
tion of Tat Momolikot Dam by the Corps of Engineers, and the construction
of the Vaiva Va Irrigation Project downstream from the dam by the Bureau
of Indian Affairs. Facilities for recreation, and fish and wildlife, are
included.

Wild Horse Dam.in northern Nevada was repaired during the fall of 1964,
after the reservoir had been drained. The wet spring has completely
eliminated fears that Wild Horse Reservoir would be .at a low level this
year because ofhaveing been emptied. The .capacity of the reservoir is
33,000 acre-feet. The Wild Horse Reservoir furnishes excellent trout
fishing, as well as supplemental water for irrigation at th'e Duck Vai1ey
Indian Irr igation Project.

The Bruce Church, Inc., operation on the Colorado River Reservation.
is proceeding rapidly with development of its 6, 400-acre lease. It has
made a la.rge beginning on ins.tallation of approximately 40 miles of con-
crete, monolithic pipe. Development of approximately 1,200 acres has
been finished, and crops are being grown.

. Cochiti Lake Recreation -- A development plan has been completed for
theCochiti Lake Recreation Area. The Cochiti Tribe will use it asa
guide in developing commercial tourism facilities to serve the public.
About 700,000 vis itors are expected during the first year of its operation.
Negotiations continue between BIA and the Corps of ,Engineers for an
. easement to .allow the Corps to construct the dam and provide for the
Tribe to retain development rights for the recreation"area.

Navajo Irrigation Project - - Delivery has been made on the "Mole"
(a horizontal power drill), which is to start work June. 11 ana two-mile
tunnel on the Navajo proje.ct. The Bureau of Reclamation will hold Open
house June 5, 1965, for the public during which time the machine will
be demonstrated.

The work on the project's inlet is being temporarily delayed because of
heavy runoff which has inundated the inlet area.
