Co-participants in the effort are <br />the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation, State Department of Mines and Geology, <br />and State Department of Water Resources. Completion of this report is <br />expected early in.calendar year 1966. <br /> <br />A report, "The .Mineral and Water Resources of New Mexico," prepared <br />at the request of Senator ClintonP.Anderson by the Geological Survey; <br />in collaboration with the New Mexico Bureau of Mines and Mineral.Resources, <br />the New Mexico State Engineer's Office,. and the New Mexico Oil Conserva- <br />tion Commission, was published in May. <br /> <br /> <br />The California programs and operations of the Water Resources Division <br />were consolidated.effective April.1, 1965, under one administrative offic.e. <br />Where formerly there were three individual district offices in California <br />with'responsibilities for surface water, ground water, and water quality <br />investigations, there is now a single district office directing these pro- <br />grams. Walter Hofmann, formerly District Engineer, has been desig- <br />nated District Chief for the unified.activities, with headquarters.at Menlo <br />Park. Major division subdistrict offices are being established in Sacramento, <br />Garden Grove, and Menlo Park. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />The Geological Survey'sactivitie.s in improved coordination of Federal <br />activities concerned with theacquis ition of water data under the provisions <br />of Bureau of the Budget Circular A-67 have been.accelerated. In.recent <br />months the Office of Water Data Coordination was established to coordi- <br />nate the national network and special water-data acquisition activities <br />and the maintenance of a central catalogue of water information.
