In Arizona, five Federal Aid projects were approved during this period.
One D-J approval will develop a ZOO-acre trout lake.at Chevelon Canyon
in Coconino County. Four P-R projects will cover the seventh payment
on purchase of a l60-acre tract and water storage rights in an 80-acre
reservoir in Apache County; inventory game populations and habitat
State-wide; develop and maintain wildlife habitat and service installations
on six game rnangement areas; and lease 6,700 acres in five tracts for.
management of waterfowl, upland game, and big-game species in Coconino,
Maricopa,. and Yuma counties.

In Utah, two Federal Aid projects were approved. One is a combination
effort which will coordinate activities of both the P-R and D-J programs
in Utah. The second is a P-R project which will purchase 3,535 acres
in six tracts. in Carbon County, to s erveas big-game winter range.
General Operations -- Water

At the Ouray Refuge in Utah, dike development work was continued.after
the cold weather lay- off period. It appears that high water in the Green
River may cause some flooding and more delay on this project. Mostof
the cottonwood and phreatophyte growth in the" Leota Bottom" portion
was cleared du.ring this period.
is continuing to work closely :-vith cooperating agencies. Therelationship
of the project to the habitat of the California condor is receiving much
attention by the Bureau and the Department. A draft report on effects
the project would have on fish and wildlife is being prepared.

A report is also being prepared on effects the peripheral canal plan for
transporting water across the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta would have
