<br />0031fl'3 <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br />Colorado River Wildlife Council: The Colorado River Ilildlife Council <br /> <br />is a state group comprised of the Fish and Game directors of the Colorado <br /> <br />River Basin states and has existed since 1950, They have a technical <br /> <br />committee made up of regional fisheries people and the technical subcommittees <br /> <br />provide information to the committee, The Council sponsors coordinated wild- <br /> <br />life management within the basin, fish introduction, game and nongame management <br /> <br />and attempts to standardize regulations. <br /> <br />Consortium of Colorado River-Great Basin Water Resources Research <br /> <br />Institute Centers: The Consortium of Colorado River-Great Basin Water <br /> <br />Resources Research Institute Centers (CHIC) is composed of the State <br /> <br />Water Research Institutes in the seven states of the Colorado River Basin. <br /> <br />The seven statewide Institutes administer federal research funds in water <br /> <br />resources research exceeding five million dollars annually, Much of their <br /> <br />research is interdisciplinary. <br /> <br />Each State Institute is located at a major university in the seven <br /> <br />states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Hexico, Wyoming and <br /> <br />Utah, Additionally, each Center or Institute has research agreements with <br /> <br />other major universities in its state providing for joint and cooperative <br /> <br />research on water problems, OlIC, thus, represents a net work of 19 major <br /> <br />research universities in the region. <br /> <br />O,IC was organized in 1972 to plan and conduct regional research <br /> <br />under p, L. 88-379, The Water Resources Research Act of 1964. Through <br /> <br />formal collaboration with the Pacific Southwest Interagency Conu~ittee <br /> <br />(PSIAC), representing' all state and federal water agencies, regional <br /> <br />problems are analyzed, and priority research tasks are identified, <br /> <br />Interstate projects are organized and supervised by an Executive Directorate <br /> <br />of center directors "ho actively participate in project management and <br /> <br />are accountable for performance.
