<br />11 <br /> <br />and analyzing the many factors affecting Colorado River salinity, <br /> <br />Each year, a progress report is prepared by the Forum, and at a minimum <br /> <br />of three year intervals, the standards a~e reviewed and modified as <br /> <br />required. Following Forum adoption of any standards revisions, each <br /> <br /> <br />state adopts the standards following its 'particular adoption process. <br /> <br /> <br />The standards were revised in 1978, and are presently being reviewed for <br /> <br /> <br />revision in 1981. In addition to this work, the Forum has developed a <br /> <br />policy for effluent limitations for discharges subject to the National <br /> <br /> <br />Pollution Discharge Elimination System. <br /> <br /> <br />Meetings are held as they are deemed necessary, Advance notice of <br /> <br />the meetings of the Forum are given, and the state representatives come <br /> <br />prepared to discuss and represent their respective state positions. <br />The Forum takes an active role in suggesting and supporting both <br />state and federal programs and legislation necessary to carry out the <br />salinity control program. . <br />Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Advisory Council: The <br />Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Advisory Council was formed in 1975 <br />to comply with Section 204 of Public Law 93-320 (Colorado River Basin <br />Salinity Control Act). The Council acts as a liaison between the Secretaries <br />of Interior and Agriculture, the Administrator of EPA, and the Colorado <br />River Basin states in accomplishing the purposes of Title II of P.L. 93-320. <br />The Council consists of no more than three members from each of <br />the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New }lexico, Utah, and <br />Wyoming; members are chosen by their respective governors. The Council <br /> <br />meets at least once a year. <br /> <br />In practice, most of the Council members are also members of the <br /> <br />Forum. Forum meetings and Council meetings are generally scheduled on <br /> <br />successive days. <br /> <br />C-12 <br />
