<br />5 <br />by a rcsolu~ion dated July 27, 1948 of the Federal Inter-Agency River <br />Basin Committee of Hashington, D.C. to implement in the Pacific Southt<est <br /> <br />the policies and purposes of the federal inter-agency agreement on December <br /> <br />29, 191.3. <br />A revised federal inter-agency agreement on coordination of water <br /> <br />and related land resources was approved by the President on May 26, <br /> <br />1954. By this approval, an Inter-Agency Committee on Hater Respurces was <br />established and the charter was issued providing for state membership in <br />establishing the Pacific Southwest Inter-Agency Committee. <br />Members of PSIAC consist of eight federal agencies .and nine states. <br />The members states are Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Net< <br /> <br />Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and I.yoming. However, Idaho and Oregon /Ire presently <br /> <br />not active. The state representatives are chosen by the highest departmental <br /> <br />official having operational responsibilities. Federal agencies represented <br />on 'PSIAC are: 'Dept. of Agriculture, pept. of Army, Dept, of Commerce, <br />Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, Dept. of Interior, <br />Dept. of Transportation, and the Environmental Protection Agency. <br /> <br />The states were invited to be members of the Committee on the basis <br /> <br />of geographic considerations. The geographical area deemed to be encompassed <br /> <br />within the sphere of Committee influence includes all of Arizona, California, <br />Utah, and of Nevada, except the part within the Columbia River.Basin: parts <br />of New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming (including the Great Divide Basin) within <br />the Colorado River Basin; parts'of Idaho and Wyoming within the Great Salt <br />Lake Basin; and the. parts of Oregon within the Smith River, Klamath River, <br /> <br />and Goose Lake Basins. <br /> <br />C-6 <br />
