Water supply problems of the Colorado River, <br />2. Increasing salinity in the Colorado River. <br /> <br />3. Water requirements for oil shale development in the Upper <br /> <br />Colorado region. <br /> <br />4. Managing water and related land of the Lower Colorado River <br /> <br />mainstem, <br /> <br />The most recent major effort to define regional water-related problems <br /> <br />am! needs was the 1975 Hater Assessment, ,.hich was directed by the U. S, <br /> <br />Water Resources Council, A series of reports were published for each water <br /> <br />resources region in the United States; the PSIAC area contains four such <br /> <br />regions: Upper Colorado, Lower Colorado, Great Basin, and California, <br /> <br />In the California and Great Basin reports, state goals were <br /> <br />substituted for. regional goals, ,In the LOl.er Color;ldo region report, <br /> <br />augmentation of the water supply and improved water management were the <br /> <br />major water-related regional goals, The r.egional goal listed for the <br /> <br />Upper Colorado was "orderly socio-economic grOl.th", which would be accomplished <br /> <br />"through t,he full use of water available"," <br /> <br />C-3 <br /> <br />'" <br />
