Inflow to Green Mountain Heservoir is released
as required by these downstream rights. Releases at all times are adequate for
fi sh preservation.

Minimum fish relertses from Lake Estes of 25 c. f. s. from November 1 through
April 15, 50 c. f. s. from April 16 througll April 30, 100 c. f. s. from May 1
through May 15, 125 c. f. s. from May 16 through August IS, 100 c. f. s. from
Aug'ust 16 through August 31, 75 c. f. s. from September 1 through September IS,
and 50 c, f. s. from September 16 through October 31 were recommended by the
Colorado State Game and Fish Department and the Fish and Wilcllife Service.

Diversion of flows of the Big Thompson River from Lake Estes for power pro-
duction is generally restricted tothe May 15 - September 15 period, since runoff
during the. remaining period usually is much less than the recommended minimum
flows. Releases in excess of inflows are not required.

I':~~;~~':=

There are no minimum required releases from Seminoe, Pathfinder, Alcova, or
Glenda Reservoirs on the North Platte project. Releases from these reservoirs
are determined by power requirements consistent with required transfer of irri-
gation water. At the end of the irrigation season, releases from Glendo Reservoir
below 1,500 c. f. s. are made gradually to avoid stranding fish inside channels
and pools. These releases are in agreement with a memorandum of understanding
between the Bureau of Reclamation and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

On a year-to-year basis since 1964, the Bureau of Reclamation has agreed to
modify the operations of the Kortes Powerplant to assure a minimum stream-
flow of 500. c. f. s. below Kortes Dam to provide for conservation of fishery
resources. This temporary criterion was recently made permanent by the sign-
ing of bill S.123 (P. L. 92-146) on October 29, 1971.

- Minimum fish release from Gray Reef Reservoir of 330 c. f. s. has been adopted.
Normally, the release wiII not be less than 500 c. f. s.

Outflows from Guernsey Reservoir normally are based on downstream irrigation
demands. However, outflows at all times are in accordance with the North Platte
,decree and stipulation entered in the U. S. Court in the North Platte case.

Minimum releases from Buffalo Bill and Boysen Reservoirs are determined by
irrigation demands during the summer months. Required releases during the
nonirrigation season vary, depending upon downstream inflows to supply domes-
tic and industrial demands and for ice control.

"<.:'

40

/-~::~~~~
i&>:f~;

':",?' ,~.

;S {!: I
. ,.J""
?:\~;.5~;.1

.~ ".: .
..;..::.\

'"-.;.':::'.1
"1

.'
.........

{~~'.t ';:-:.~ I

'.:.
. ..

:~.:.:>:,
i";-:'~: .

...... .

:...~~.-' :: .
~~:\:/~.~~_~ i
'..:...........-.,
..,'....,.

~I
. .......~.
~.\.~:..>
. ,!~. :~./"..

;:~::?/~:

r;J?{: 1
~:' .:.:',

~
i\~{;:
:~i~;;:tl

..........

~~Jl~1

~.):.:....:;..!
,. . .:':"- ~.,.
..;.: .~.' ..

\. -
',' ~.:~.~.

..-.,.....
(-//:-"<::
?<\:.:.?'
;~-,:",:.:~. .-
'.:i.~{:'"
..:.... .
.', .

.'.-'.',-.'
...'....

-........

'..:....
:.;~' .. . . ~"-' :.:

;:~.::....:

.,>
",'

}':..:'<'"
. - ..-_....~

:~ :.':'- ~... .' . . . . ~ .. .. ,. .
