W, Don Maughan, Executive Dir. -2- April 20, 1972

4. In order to more effectively use staff
resources of the many organizations concerned
with water and related land resources planning,
the need exists for the establishing of a meeting
register.

In view of the comments of Executive Committee
Members of IC~~ and the views of other individuals in
the planning and environmental fields, the following
recommendations are made:

The Council establish a central meeting
clearinghouse at the earliest possible date.

Arrangements be made to establish a register
concerned with water and related land resources
and environmental meetings. Provide ready
contact with the public so that inquiries on
the scheduling of meetings or location of meetings
can be easily checked. Designate where meeting
information should be obtained or sent.

Issue at least monthly a calendar of important
meetings. The calendar to be made available to
State, Federal Government agencies and the
public.

A number of years ago, the Ohio River Division,
Corps of Engineers issued a meeting calendar. Although
the listing was limited, we found that the calendar was
extensively useful in scheduling meetings in Pennsylvania.

While we fully realize that your office has limited
staff available, it is our feeling that a central meeting
clearinghouse is required. Such services would be
valuable to not only Federal and State agencies but also
to the general public.

Sincerely yours,

C. H. McConnell
Second Vice Chairman - ICWP

~
~
