<br /> <br />", <br /> <br />2-C <br /> <br />PACIFIC SOUTHWEST ~-AGENCY COMlu'l'l'.l!OJj; <br /> <br />Com'INED AQ.UIFER--An aquifer which is surrounded by formations of less <br />permeable or impermeable material. <br /> <br />CONJUNCTIVE USE (GROUNIMATER)--The integrated use of surface and subsurface <br />water supplies, normalJ.y involving storage Of surplus waters during wet <br />periods for use during dry periods. <br /> <br />CONSERVATION STORAQE--Water impounded for ,later release for consumptive <br />uses, such as municipal, industrial, and irrigation. <br /> <br />CONSTANT DOLLA.RS--The real value of the dOllar, with price of goods and <br />services remainiI1& constant; usuaJ.J.:Y expressed over a period of time <br />from a base year (equal to 100). The effect of using constant dollar <br />is to remove changes in value of the dollar due to either inflation <br />or deflation. <br /> <br />CONSUMPrIVE USE (WATER)--The use of water by discharge into the atmosphere <br />or 'incorporation into the product of the process in connection with <br />vegetative growth, food processing, or an industrial process. <br /> <br />CQNTAMINATION--A general term signifying the introduction into water Of <br />microorganisms, chemicals, wastes, or sewage, which may render the water <br />unfit for its intended use. <br /> <br />COl'lVEYANCE LOSS--The loss of water frail a conduit due to leakage, seepage, <br />evaporation, or evapotranspiration. <br /> <br />COST ALLOCATION--The process of distri'\1Uting pr<>ject costs equitably among <br />the various purposes served by the project. <br /> <br />COST SHARING--The contribution, by those benefiting from a project or <br />program, towards the cost Of that project or program. <br /> <br />CRr.J!ICAL HYDRO PERIOD--Period when the limitations of hydroelectric power <br />supply due to water conditions are Illost critical with resPect to system <br />loe.d requirements. <br /> <br />csm (Abbreviation for cubic-feet per second per square 1ll11e. )--The average <br />flow in cubic-feet per second from each square 1ll11e of drainage area. <br />I'll; use allows direct canparison of runoff rates fram basins of differing <br />areas. <br /> <br />CURRENT NORMALIZED CROP YJELD--Yield eilt:lJnates which reflect current <br />production technology and practicesfram which abnormalities caused <br />by weather and other hazards have been elilllinated. <br /> <br />CURRENT NORMALIZED PRICES--See NORMALIZED CURRENT PRICES. <br />
