'.

-5-

from the Wellton-Mohawk Project. These, in the final period
of operation, were 129,023 acre-feet, about 4,351 acre-feet
less than the comparable period in 1971. Total salts dis.
charged during the partial operation year '1972 are estimated
to be 636,822 tons, a reduction from the quantity discharged
during the comparable period in the 6th year of about 29,930
tons due to the decrease in salinity of the pumped waters.
The average salinity of the Well ton-Mohawk drainage waters in
the final period of operation in the conveyance channel above
Morelos Dam averaged about 3630 ppm, a reduction of about 50 ppm
from that during the comparable period in 1971. Comparative data
are tabulated on the following page, and sho"~ graphically in
Exhibit 5.

WELLTON-MOHAWK DRAINAGE \,ATERS
AT STATION 8+30 IN CONVEYA1'lCE CHANNEL
Year1) Water Salt Salinity
Period Acre-Feet Tons ppm
Previous year to
Agreement Operations 1965 175,300 1,117,000 4680
1st year of Operation 1966 216,100 1,399,000 4760
. 2nd year of Operation 1967 211,200 1,324,000 4610
3rd year of Operation 1968 219,800 1,317 ,000 4410
4th year of Operation 1969 218,300 1,227,000 4130
5th year of Operation 1970 219,500 1,130,000 3790
6th year of Operation 1971 215,800 1,081,000 3680
Final period of
Operation 2) 1972 129,023 636,822 3630

1) Operation year - November 16 of preceding year through November 15 of
designated operation year.
2) November 16, 1971 through June 30, 1972.

The Extension Channel discharges to the Colorado River below
More1os Dam during the final peLiod were about 61,000 acre-
feet'-about 5,300 acre-feet more than in the comparable period
in the 6th year.
