The status report will serve as a guide for local

and State interests to determine specific problems and needs and potential

solutions that could be investigated in greater detail. Completion of

this report is scheduled in FY 1977. In response to strong support by

the Coal Creek Water and Sanitation Association and State agencies, the

feasibility study will now focus on alternatives for meeting the M&I needs
for the communities of Erie, Lafayette, Louisville and Superior in the

Coal Creek drainage area. These communities are experiencing serious

water shortages and the situation will worsen as the population grows from

the present 12,000 to over 50,000 expected by 1990.

The program for fiscal year 1978 provides for continuing investigations

for development of a water supply for the Coal Creek area. A feasibility

report is scheduled for completion in 1980.

Fiscal Year 1977 program . . .

$114,000
$100,000

Fiscal Year 1978 appropriation request
