<br />" <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />March 1, 1977 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />STATUS OF CONSTRUCTION <br /> <br />Fryingpan-Arkansas Project <br /> <br />From the standpoint of funds ekpended, the project is half completed. The <br /> <br />major features in operation include Ruedi Dam and Reservoir, Sugar Loaf <br /> <br />Dam and Turquoise Lake, Pueblo Dam and Reservoir and several of the <br /> <br />collection system tunnels. Construction is continuing on the collection <br /> <br />system and should be completed in FY 1980. Other major features which <br />are under construction are the Mt. Elbert Conduit and Halfmoon Diversion <br /> <br />Dam, the Mt. Elbert Forebay Dam and Reservoir, the Mt. Elbert Pumped- <br /> <br />Storage Powerplant and transmission lines and substations. Land acquisi- <br /> <br />tion for the municipal water system is scheduled to be initiated in FY 1978 <br />and preconstruction work on the system continues. <br /> <br />We are presently storing water at Pueblo Reservoir and at Turquoise <br /> <br />Lake for various irrigation companies and municipal and industrial <br /> <br />entities. <br /> <br />Last year the use of Pueblo Dam, in a flood control capacity, resulted <br /> <br /> <br />in total benefits of $320,000. In addition, there were 411,000 visitor <br /> <br /> <br />days of recreation provided in 1976 at Pueblo Reservoir. Ruedi Reservoir <br /> <br /> <br />reported 71,000 visitor days and Turquoise Lake 25,000 visitor days. <br /> <br />Fiscal Year 1977 program . . . . . . . <br />Fiscal Year 1978 appropriation request <br /> <br />$35,348,000 <br />$36,930,000 <br />
