IRRIGATION SYSTEM IN GRAND VALLE:Y UNIT <br /> <br />Lands within the Grand Valley Unit are supplied with <br /> <br />irrigation water by the following organizations operating the <br /> <br />canals respectively designated: <br /> <br />1. The Grand Valley Water Users Association, a Colorado <br /> <br />Corporation, operating the Government Highline Canal, <br /> <br />constructed and owned by the United States as a <br /> <br />reclamation project; <br /> <br />2. The Grand Valley Irrigation Company, a Colorado <br /> <br />Corporation, operating the Grand Valley Highline Canal, <br /> <br />the Mesa County Canal, the Mainline Canal, the <br /> <br />Ranchmen's Canal and the Kiefer extension canal; <br /> <br />3. The Mesa County Irrigation District op.~rating the Stub <br /> <br />Canal; <br /> <br />4. The Palisade Irrigation District opera"ting the Price <br /> <br />Canal; and <br /> <br />5. The Orchard Mesa Irrigation District operating the Power <br /> <br />Canal, the Vinelands Canal, the Orchard Mesa No.1. <br /> <br />Canal and the Orchard Mesa No.2 Canal. <br /> <br />The above canals (the "Subject Canals") irrigate some 66,000 <br /> <br />acres surrounding Grand Junction in Mesa County, an area about 40 <br /> <br />miles in length by 6 miles in width. There are several thousand <br /> <br />individual water users deriving water from the Subject Canals <br /> <br />-3- <br />
