This <br /> <br />represents about one out of thirty-five residents of the San Luis <br /> <br />Va lIey. <br /> <br />Mr. Mel Coleman and Mr. Vinis Sutherland. leaders of those <br /> <br />opposing this legislation. met with the Board on the evening of <br /> <br />September 29. 1972. The meeting was devoted to a discussion <br /> <br />during which Mr. Coleman presented the position of those opposing <br /> <br />the bill and members of the Board explained tbeir reasons for <br /> <br />supporting the bill. Mr. Coleman stated that he had not been aware of <br /> <br />the reasons for the Board's support., nor had he taken time t.o <br /> <br />familiarize himself wit.h the many provisions of the proposed pro- <br /> <br />ject. <br /> <br />When the persons organizing the oppos i hon do not understand <br /> <br />the sitlWtion we feel it is possible that many of those signing <br /> <br />the petition are not. aware of the beneficial aspects of the project. <br />
