<br />000513 <br /> <br />A scenic driving route will be established on existing forest access roads <br />that are being upgraded by the Dolores Project. These roads also provide <br />access to the reservoir from the east side. The House Creek Road provides an <br />excellent scenic driving route, <br /> <br />7. Bicvcling <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Bicycle use is likely to take place on reservoir access routes and within <br />major-use areaS. The west side should receive the ma~ority of this type of <br />use because of its proximity to the town of Dolores and nearby subdivisions. <br />Bicycle lanes or paths are not planned, but if this use presents conflicts or <br />safety hazards, steps will be taken to provide such facilities, <br /> <br />8. Hunting <br /> <br />The Colorado Division of Wildlife is responsible for the enforcement of State <br />hunting laws and regulations, Hunting and the discharge of firearms is not <br />permitted within developed recreation sites and will be so posted on bulletin <br />boards. Facilities for hunters have not been provided, however, hunters may <br />use parking lots and turnouts along access roads and campground facilities <br />will be kept open through big game seasons. Hunter camps outside of <br />developed sites are not permitted within the Management ARea. <br /> <br />9. Visitor Information <br /> <br />At a future date, the Forest Service will develop a Visitor Information <br />program for McPhee Reservoir, A preliminary draft of this program has been <br />completed which outlines information and interpretive goals and <br />opportunities. Some of these are as follows: <br /> <br />a, Provide the recreation visitor with orientation and information as to <br />the recrestion and interpretive opportunities offered at McPhee Reservoir and <br />in the immediate area. <br /> <br />b. Provide information and interpretation in areas of visitor <br />concentration. <br /> <br />c, Compliment and supplement other interpretive services to assist in <br />National Forest management and protection of resources and facilities. <br /> <br />d. Use information and interpretive services to assist in National Forest <br />management and protection of resources and facilities. <br /> <br />e, <br />how <br /> <br />Explain the Dolores Project, <br />impacts were mitigated. <br /> <br />the roles of various agencies involved and <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />f. Orientation of area boundaries, layout of recreation areas, available <br />activities and regulations. <br /> <br />g. Emphasize the interpretive themes of water, wildlife, cultural resources <br />and geology. <br /> <br />15 <br />
