000492

Diversion Dam would divert the irrigation, municipal and domestic
water' into the Paragon Canal about 22 miles below the reservoir.
The municipal and domestic water would travel nearly 1/4 mile in
the Paragon Canal before entering the Gunnison Municipal and Domes-
tic Pipeline for conveyance to the town of Gunnison and other delivery
points along its route. Treatment and distribution facilities would
be at the expense of the municipal and industrial users. The Paragon
Canal would convey irrigation water to lands along Lower Ohio Creek
to replace direct flows from the stream and. make the direct flows
available for transfer to lands above the canal. Return flaw waters
returning to the stream would be rediverted into existing ditches
for project use.

PROJECT FEATURES (Preliminary, subject to change)

Elko Dam and Reservoir
Total capacity (acre-feet)
Active
Dead and inactive

18,300
14,500
3,800

Surface area (acres)
Height of dam (feet)

420
117

Cement Creek Dam and Reservoir
'Iotal capacity (acre-feet)
Active
Dead and inactive

4,100
1,900
2,200

Surface area (acres)
Height of dam

137
80

I

Canals

Crook ton Canal
Paragon Canal
Gunnison M&D Pipeline

Capacity
(sec.-ft.)
42
70
18

Length
(mil es)
7.7
7.4
6.4

L
f
t
,
,

MUNICIPAL AND DOMESTIC WATER

Gunnison area
Crested Butte area

6,000 ac.-ft.
2,000 aC.-ft.

ACREAGE

Service acreage

Full
service
2,160

Supplemental
service
134,640

Total
15,800

I
t
r

2
