002244

.?~

~

Schedule:
Given Mr. Bethel's 20 hour per week time commitment to the CRDSS Project, it is
anticipated that the above work would be performed over the course of the week of March
31.

Subtask LR-2c Revisions to Transmountain Diversions in Historic and Calculated Scenarios

Obiective:

It has been observed that demands for transmountain diversions in the historic and
calculated scenario may not have been consistently generated or adequately reflect
historic operations. Emphasis is on the Continental Hoosier, Moffat and Grand River
systems. Changes are necessary to improve the modeling base.

Scope of Work
2c.I Assist CWCB staff (Andy Moore) in their review the modeled demands, and modeled output
for the transmountain diversions in the historic and calculated Colorado River scenarios in
light of historic records of diversions (assumed to be readily available records from the
CRDSS database). Recommendation for the Continental Hoosier System may include
consideration of changes in modeling of Dillon Reservoir. Generate recommendations for
suggested changes to the modeled transmountain demands or associated baseflows to
improve the modeling in these scenarios. Summarize the information gained on the demands
and the modeling change recommendations in a 5-6 page memo,
2c.2 In a 4 hour meeting with CRDSS management and/or CWCB staff, review and finalize
changes to be made to the modeled operation of each of the transmountain diversions.
2c,3 Modify the model's input data (in the base model data directories on cando) to reflect the
agreed on changes to the modeling of the transmountain diversions. It is anticipated that
modifications to the statemod program would not be necessary and that changes would be
made to the input data files for the historic and calculated scenarios. Rerun both scenarios
by first regenerating baseflows.
2c.4 In draft form, modifY (redline) existing Phase II documentation to reflect changes in
methodology, assumptions and results resulting from this task. This subtask will not involve
re-calibration of the model since it is the calculated rather than the historic scenario that is
being adjusted,
2c.5 After receiving CRDSS/CWCB comments of the draft task documentation, finalize the
modifications to the Phase II documentation to present the results of this task.

Deliverables (referencing subtask identifiers):
2cl A memo (5-6 pages) that describes the current (Phase II) operation of the
transmountain diversions for the historic and calculated scenarios for the Colorado
River Basin and recommendations for improvement of the operation of these
structures.
2c2&2c3 Modified input data sets for the transmountain diversions for the historic and
calculated scenarios to reflect the strategy agreed on by CRDSS management.
