.

.

Page #8

The water is claimed generally for all possible
uses for which it may be put.

The claim states that a map and statement was filed
with the State Engineer on November 14, 1942 and bears
number 17268.

It is alleged that the lands to be irrigated approxi-
mate one-half million acres in the counties of Douglas,
Jefferson, Arapahoe, Adams, Clear Creek, Boulder, Weld
and Morgan lying below an elevation of 6,000 feet.

A priority date of October 27, 1942 is sought for
3300 c.f.s. direct flow and storage. It is alleged that
construction work on this project was commenced October 27,
1942 by survey.

Claims of the United States

The United States has filed separate claims in 1805
and 1806 but these are not identical in all respects.

The claim of the United States in 1805 is dated
January 15, 1944. The claim of the United States in 1806
bears no date on the copy which you have submitted to me
but apparently was dated sometime in 1943. I do not have
the filing dates of either of these claims.

The United States asserts claims on behalf of Green
Mountain Reservoir, hydroelectric plants Nos. 5 and 6 and
Elliott Creek Canal, all of which are said to be parts
of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project. Green Mountain
Reservoir and hydroelectric plant No. 5 are alleged to be
constructed and operating.

The claim does not describe the exact location of
Green Mountain Reservoir and merely says that its location
will be Sh01Vll on a map which will be introduced in evidence.
The reservoir is across the channel of the Blue River and '
has a capacity of 156,545 a.f. (this is stated to include
bank storage of 1900 a.f.). The sources of supply of the
reservoir are Blue River and its tributaries emptying
into the Blue River above the dam, and Elliott Creek.

?~~
v
