<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Goal Statement: <br /> <br />Q <br />Q <br />Q <br />..... <br />..... <br />w <br /> <br />To improve the delivery of information to our customers. <br /> <br />Obiectives: <br /> <br />IMAGING: <br />Serve the water records needs of the citizens of the state by prompt transfer of water records to any location in the state. <br /> <br />SOFTWARE ENHANCEMENTS: <br />The pre-eminent objective of the information technology enhancement decision item is to improve service to our customers. The <br />need for timely and accurate information has been the focus of numerous departmental studies. With this decision item, we intend <br />to implement the recommendations of the study completed on the SBLC, dated October 1995, by the Natural Resources Law <br />Center, University of Colorado School of Law, and the recommendations of the State Auditor included in the August, 1994 Report <br />of the State Auditor, Public Land Management Performance Audit, and the benefits described in the SBLC <br />Modernization/Enhancement Study which include: <br />Develop a comprehensive inventory of trust assets. <br />Maintain a database containing the asset portfolio information. <br />Decrease response time to information requests from lessees, the public, other government agencies, and SBLC management. <br />Receive electronic submission of data for reporting by industry, for example oil and gas royalty reports. <br />Develop a system which will readily interface as a layer within the newly developed and completed SBLC Geographic <br />Information System (GIS) and with image processing and document management systems. <br /> <br />There is a two fiscal year horizon for the systems conversion within the Oil and Gas Commission. B'I the end of FY 1997-98 an <br />oil and gas information management system will be in place with the conversion of existing data file:;. Hardware purchases will <br />include a file server, desk-top and laptop computers. By the end of FY 1998-99, the system will be completely customized and <br />training and systems implementation will be accomplished. <br /> <br />Replacement of the COGIMS computer system with a modern, efficient data management system will support the responsible <br />promotion of oil and gas development throughout the state. <br /> <br />48 <br />
