All flood or other disasters serious enough to <br />attract pUblic attention, and high water that indicates <br />significantly impaired watershed conditions, whether they <br />attract public attention or not, should be reported by any <br />available method to the next higher line officer within 24 <br />hours after occurrence or discovery. <br /> <br />2. Verbal reports of such natural disasters should be <br />confirmed by memorandum within 3 business days after occur- <br />rence or discovery. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />3. Inspections should begin immediately and final <br />reports sent to the Regional Forester 30 days after occur- <br />rence or discovery. <br /> <br />4. The Regional Forester shall make final decisions on <br />requests for emergency funds within 40 days after occur- <br />rence or discovery, or sooner if requested by the washing- <br />ton Office. <br /> <br />2529.2 - Documentation of Natural Disasters. Documentation <br />of natural dlsasters and flood damage surveys must include: <br /> <br />1. Date of occurrence. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2. Brief description of disaster. <br /> <br />3. Tabulation of damages to improvements and resources <br />by functional areas. <br /> <br />4. Summary of repairs implemented during the emergency <br />phase of the disaster. <br /> <br />5. Recommendation for corrective action. Identify <br />type of work needed and possible sources of funding. <br />Consider reprograming regular funds as well as obtaining <br />funding outside sources such as SCS, Section 403 Emergency <br />Watershed Protection funds (FSM 6513.31c) for protecting <br />life and property, and Highway Trust Fund (ERFO) funds (FSM <br />6513.63b) for repairing roads and trails. Rank corrective <br />measures and dollars needed using the fOllowing priority <br />classes: <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />*-FSM 3/86 AMEND 48-* <br /> <br />e <br />
