<br /> <br />0018J6 <br /> <br />2525.03 <br /> <br />TITLE 2500 - WATERSHED MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />Procedures and guidelines developed by individual Regions <br />must, at least, include the fOllowing: <br /> <br />1. A timely sChedule for providing support services to <br />meet the time frames of each project. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2. Documentation of data collection, analysis, and <br />conclusions, and the criteria used in making interpreta- <br />tions and setting standards. <br /> <br />3. A mechanism for evaluating and documenting the <br />effectiveness of recommendations. <br /> <br />4. Reports that contain soil and water conservation <br />practices needed to maintain and improve watershed <br />condition. <br /> <br />5. Quality control procedures. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2525 - MONITORING. Monitor physical and chemical charac- <br />terlstics of soil and water as a means for assessing <br />watershed condition, and the degree to which planning, man- <br />agement, operation, and maintenance of renewable resources <br />meet established goals and standards (36 CFR 219). See <br />various authorities addressing monitoring in FSM 2501. <br /> <br />2525.02 - Objectives. The Objectives of monitoring are <br />to: secure data sufficient to assist line officers and <br />resource managers in evaluating effects of management <br />activities on the soil and water resources, support changes <br />in management activities to protect soil and water produc- <br />tivity, and detect pertinent physical, chemical and bio- <br />logical changes in soil properties, sediment production and <br />water quantity and quality. <br /> <br />2525.03 - Policy. Watershed monitoring activities must be <br />consistent wlth direction, criteria and standards specified <br />in the Forest Plan. Design and implement soil and water <br />resource monitoring to evaluate effects of each forest <br />management activity or program on basic soil and water <br />quality and productivity. <br /> <br />*-FSM 3/86 AMEND 48-* <br />
