Erosion control and other measures applied <br />to correct damage caused by fire suppression activities are <br />part of the fire suppression effort. Emergency rehabilita- <br />tion of the fire-caused watershed damage is a separate <br />activity. <br /> <br />Burned-area surveys shall be made promptly on all burned-over <br />areas to determine if watershed emergency rehabilitation <br />treatment is needed. Interdisciplinary teams shall conduct <br />burned-area surveys of all class E (300 acres) and larger <br />fires. Skills required on an interdisciplinary team are dis- <br />cussed in FSH 2509.13, Burned-Area Emergency Rehabilitation <br />Handbook. See FSH 2509.13, section 03, for criteria required <br />for funding approval. <br /> <br />2523.04 - Responsibilities <br /> <br />2523.04a - Director, Watershed and Air Management Staff. <br />The Director, Watershed and Air Management Staff, shall: <br /> <br />1. Allocate specific annual funding approval authority <br />to Regional Foresters. <br /> <br />2. Approve requests for Fighting Forest Fires (FFF 092) <br />funds for emergency rehabilitation of burned areas for those <br />projects requiring funding above Regional Forester's <br />delegated authority. __ <br /> <br />3. Approve or take other <br />within 1 business day after a <br />Washington Office. <br /> <br />2523.04b - Regional Foresters. <br /> <br />action on burned-area reports <br />report is received in the <br /> <br />Regional Foresters shall: <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />1. Establish Regional guidelines for identifying appro- <br />priate emergency treatment measures. <br /> <br />2. Review and approve emergency burned-area rehabilita- <br />tion projects within delegated authority, within 1 business <br />day of its receipt from a Forest, and transmit burned-area <br />report to Washington Office by electronic mail. <br /> <br />3. Review, recommend approval, and transmit the burned- <br />area report to the Washington Office, if beyond delegated <br />funding approval authority, within 1 business day of its <br />receipt from a Forest. <br /> <br />*-FSM 3/86 AI-IEND 48-* <br />
