<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2) Professional emergency services are <br />provided year-round to park visitors either <br />directly by park staff and/or through <br />innovative cooperation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />ii iNTERPlffi"lAl1UN - Determine the <br />level of government and private sector <br />educational services, using state.of-the. <br />art methodologies to enhance the visitor's <br />experience and provide educational and <br />interpretive programs. <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1) Park continues to serve as a center for <br />outreach programs with school systems, <br />developing seminars and curriculums. <br /> <br />2) Educational programming is provided year <br />around at existing park facilities using <br />appropriate natural and cultural park themes, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />· COMMERCIAL SERVICES- <br />IdentifY the optimum level of commercial <br />services to be provided and their <br />complementary role in accomplishment <br />of the park mission. Commercial <br />services include anything offered to the <br />public or private individuals, in which <br />park resources are used and that results in <br />compensation of any kind to an <br />individual, organization, or corporation. <br />Compensation may be "for profit" or <br />"non.profit" under local, state, or federal <br />law. <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1) A commercial services plan has been <br />completed to provide long-tenn strategic <br />guidance for management of commercial <br />services. <br /> <br />2) Consistent with the Concessions Policy Act <br />of 1965, the commercial services plan <br />evaluates, through the planning process, <br />those services that are necessary and <br />appropriate for present and future visitors to <br />the park <br /> <br />3) The commercial services plan identifies: <br /> <br />. commercial services and facilities <br />that are necessary and appropriate <br /> <br />. levels of services and facilities <br />essential to serve visitors <br /> <br />. types of facilities necessary to <br />support commercial services <br /> <br />. appropriate areas for facilities that <br />serve visitors <br /> <br />4) The type of commercial facilities and <br />services that would complement quality and <br />diverse visitor experiences and resource <br />conservation have been determined. <br /> <br />· FACILITIES - Provide facilities and <br />services that are attractive, safe, <br />accessible, and of high-quality design <br />that are located to minimize their impact <br />on the surrounding landscape and <br />resources, <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />I) The recreation area has appropriately <br />designed and situated visitor facilities, <br />including exhibits that are sensitive to the <br />surrounding environment and readily <br />accessible to all populations. <br /> <br />2) Facilities, including employee housing, <br />commercial service operations, and <br />equipment are appropriate, sufficient, and <br />properly maintained for the park mission and <br />visitor use. <br /> <br />3) State highway maintenance is accomplished <br />in a coordinated and cooperative manner as <br />consistent as possible with NPS policies and <br />the protection of resources. <br /> <br />4) A strategy has been developed to <br />complement and support the Regional <br />Transportation Plan as it relates to Highways <br />50, 149, and 92 (not including four-lane <br />highway development) and the construction <br />of bicycle paths along these routes, <br /> <br />5) Facilities serving various functions are <br />efficiently organized and do not contlict with <br />land use. <br /> <br />6) Maintenance and administration facilities are <br />organized in a fashion that protects resources <br />and meets visitor needs. <br /> <br />OOZ2H <br />
