Reclamation potential is poor due to droughtiness and excess <br /> <br />salts, <br /> <br />UsticTorriorthents, loamy, frigid-Aridic Ar~iborolis, loamy Association, <br /> <br />Association #35, (1,140,275 acres) <br /> <br />This association consists of nearly level to moderately steep soils <br /> <br />on plains or mesas (0-25 percent slopes), Elevations range from <br /> <br />6,000-7,500 feet. The average annual precipitation is 12-15 inches; soil <br /> <br />moisture regime is aridic bordering on ustic. Average annual soil tem- <br /> <br />perature is less than 470F, frigid, and the frost-free season is 60-90 days, <br /> <br />The association has about 60 percent Ustic Torriorthents, 20 percent <br /> <br />~idic Argiborolls, and 20 percent of unidentified minor soils scattered <br /> <br />throughout, These soils are located in the north-central area from the <br /> <br />Utah State' line to Craig, in Moffat County. <br /> <br />Ustic Torriorthents are deep, well-drained soils in mixed alluvium <br /> <br />form, from sedimentary rocks. Typically Ustic Torriorthents have a <br /> <br />substratum, 10-40 inch layer, Cl horizon, is a light-color~d, loamy material <br /> <br />, <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />" <br /> <br />light-colored loamy surface layer, Al horizon, about 10 inches thick. The <br /> <br />calcareous, loamy material extending to 40 inches+. Hard bedrock is <br /> <br />;1 <br />II <br />! <br /> <br />about 24 inches thick. The underlying layer, C2 horizon, is a light-colored, <br /> <br />40-60 inches+, <br /> <br />Ustic Torriorthents are moderately permeable; effective rooting depth <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />is 40-60 inches.
