That consultation process has designed studies to <br />determine if and how Aspinall operations might affect the endangered <br />fishes in Colorado River. As a result, the USFWS and BOR have <br />initiated a five-year interim test flow period on releases from the Aspinall <br />Unit starting in 1992. <br /> <br />The USFWS has recommended instantaneous spring peaks on the <br />Gunnison River near Grand Junction (gage #09152500) during the five- <br />year test flow period as follows: <br /> <br />2,000 - 5,000 cfs during 1 year <br /> <br />5,000 - 10,000 cfs during 1 year (1992 peak was 6,300 cfs) <br /> <br />above 12,000 cfs during 2 years <br /> <br />above 15,000 cfs during 1 year <br /> <br />These spring peaks should be timed to coincide with peaks on the <br /> <br />Colorado River generally' occurring betw~en May 15 and June 15 qf each I .
