.,

v. Work with the CROSS database and DM! designer to develop a program for
the suggested modifications.

3. Develop example interface screens
a. Review current PC based CROSS interfaces and processes developed for the water
rights administration tool and StateMod for consistency with the crop consumptive
use tool.
vi. general look and feel standards,
vii. use of supplemental tools such as grid or graphing features,
viii. data connectivity to central database and general data fonnats
State will provide electronic source code for these applications for review.
d. Prepare a set of example interface screens, with associated brief narrative
descriptions, using ffiuiIder or Visual Basic software to demonstrate the planned
functionality of the PC CU Model (but without functionality programmed at this
time). These interface screens will demonstrate access needed for the different user
groups to determine consumptive use including:
i. Selection of consumptive use method
u, Selection of level of analysis (Le. cu & losses, statemod, potential cu,
depletion)
iii. Selection of geographic area
IV. Presentation of options (editing, scenario selection, output, etc.)
v. Scenario input and output management
e. Review example screens with CROSS staff (CWCB and DWR representatives).
Revise/add screens in response to CROSS staff comments.

4 Implement CU Model Using Guidelines Generated in Previous Tasks
a. Transfer the example interface screens to the Java language
g. Implement functionality ofCU model using Java
h. Implement a portion of the CU model interfaces and functionality in Visual Basic
Version 5.0 to demonstrate the differences in efficiencies and functionality between
the languages. Prepare a brief memo describing the findings.
1. At two times during model development, demonstrate interfaces and functionality to
CRDSS sUUI: accept comments and make appropriate revisions/enhancements to
model.
j. Prepare documentation similar to the existing Statemod documentation for the CU
model. This will include a manua1 containing with primary sections for the use of the
graphical user interface and use of the CU model itself. This documentation will
explain basic features and be supplemented by the procedure manuals to be developed
in the next task. '
k. Develop and implement an installation procedure similar to StateMod or the CWRAT
administration tool using the InstallShield process.

l.tjt\9

3
