Informing plan formulators of public reaction to studies, <br />plans, and programs. <br />Public Involvement and Participation <br />Direct public involvement will be emphasized at the State and <br />local level. <br />The Governor of each of the 11 states in the study area has <br />designated a representative from his state to the Westwide Study. <br />To the degree desired, State representatives will be responsible <br />for the public participation program, including State involvement <br />in the study consistent with the State's goals and objectives. <br />Assistance will be provided by the appropriate Regional Director <br />and the Management Group as requested. To ensure that the public <br />inputs have an impact on the study, the State representative <br />should inform the study participants of the schedule for State- <br />sponsored meetings.
