National economic development <br /> <br />can be served by increasing production of any of these components, provided <br /> <br />that the share of national demand allocated to this area exceeds the <br /> <br />current or projected supply (production). More efficient production <br /> <br />of these goods or services will also contribute to the NED objective. <br /> <br />The components of NED identified in the Yampa and Green River Basins are: <br />(1) increased or more efficient output of outdoor recreation services r. <br /> and uses, ~ <br /> " <br />(2) increased or more efficient production of agricultural products, ! <br />,(3) increased or more efficient production of mineral resources, <br />(4) increased or more efficient hunting and fishing, <br />(5) increased or more efficient power production. <br /> <br />The environment of the Yampa-Green study area possesses outstandingly <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />remarkable scenic, recreational, geologic, fish and wildlife, historic, <br /> <br />cultural, and other similar values. Preservation or enhancement of <br /> <br />these values for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future genera- <br /> <br />tions of the nation would serve the environmen~al quality objective of <br /> <br />"Principles and Standards." <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />The components of EQ identified in the Yampa and Green River Basins are: <br /> <br />(l) preserve or enhance areas of natural beauty and river segments <br /> <br />with wild, scenic, or recreational river characteristics, <br /> <br />(2) preserve or enhance areas with historic, archeologic, and <br /> <br />cultural value, <br />
