. Task IIIa-3

Yampa River Basin Model Enhancement

Objective: The Yampa River basin model will be enhanced to include the approximately 25 percent of
current water use which was left "in the gage" in the Phase II model. Additional diversions and storage
structures will be aggregated to produce a manageable data set and to avoid significantly degrading
computational performance. The final model will be calibrated and documented.

Prerequisite: The Phase II Yampa River Basin model is documented and calibrated with
approximately 75 percent of the current water use modeled and with irrigation demands based on the
1993 GIS mapping in the calculated scenario.

Assumptions: - Study period is 1975 through 1991.
- Total irrigation consumptive use is defined as the consumptive use associated with the
irrigated acreage recorded in the CRDSS irrigated acreage spatial database, Structures and water rights
not tied to irrigated parcels will not be included in the model, but will be documented as being
excluded,

Task Leader: Meg Frantz (Boyle)
Task3.0l Phase II Instream Flow Revision

'. Objective: The objective of this task was to I) modify the Yampa River Basin Phase II model input to
treat instream flows as a reach rather than a series of discrete points and 2) compare model results
before and after the change: Based on discussions between the STATE and Boyle as part of the
January 31, 1997 contract amendment, activities associated with the revised instream flow reach
designation are described in task 3.12 while a comparison to Phase II will occur in Task 3,15,
Therefor, no activities are scoped in this task. This task has not been deleted in order to maintain
consistency in task numbering and progress reporting,

Approach:

1, None,

flf ,v--t. 1-0

H-~~

Oeliverables:
1. None,

Task 3.02 Map Preparation ( J' ~9

Objective: Prepare an electronic and hard copy map of irrigated lands, headgates, hydrology, and
baseflow nodes, differentiating between that modeled in Phase II and remaining to be modeled in Phase
III. This map will be a useful aid in spatial aggregation of diversion structures.

Approach:

1163

Phase IIIa Scope of Services

A-2!

Jan3!, !997
