And in the
past we haven't spent all of that but this year we're thinking that we will probably go for more money than
last year and the other agencies are starting to think like that. The table at the front of your handout is this
one on the screen shows the money that we have used in the past - these two colunms are actual, this is in
the long bill that is going through the General Assembly right now and this is some of the different
projects that have come in so far that Peter and I have taken a preliminary look at and tried to put them into
these different categories. When the budget is made the Executive Director of the Department of Natural
Resources can make recommendation on the programs that we can spend the money for and they have to be
related to local water plan. So we have come up these program categories ------

2750 - 2848

Stanton: Before I talk about the FY 2000 colwnn, I want to talk about the FY t999 column. On
the front page you see we have a study for $20,000 for La Plata County, no work has been done on that, we
don't have a scope of work, I don't think we are going to do that. Ifwe don't use this money by a year
from this June, we're in FY 98 right now so we're working on that $60,000 for the needs assessment in the
Arkansas Basin. Anyway I think we have enough flexibility because we're recommending programs here
that we could probably - if we can't get that study off the ground we could probably divert it to some other
water planning study. And the same goes for the - I said "if "Janice, maybe it's there, I'm just not clear
what this is, this was a Peter Evans idea

Evans: We've been working with Steve Harris on this, they're trying to get themselves
organized in a way that they dOh't run into the EPA problem so we've made some progress, we don't have
a scope of work though yet, we don't know quite how that money would be used but it's a rural domestic
water supply issue in general and the need in that part of La Plata County, specifically ones that have been
identified in previous Board discussions so we're still trying to make that work.

Stanton: I may have spoken a little bit ahead of where we're at. And then I think I'd say the same
thing about Weld County but Chuck isn't here to defend that. We haven't seen much action on either of
those. The Jefferson County study is moving along, they originally wanted $50,000 so that's why I have
$30,000 in the next period. That may be too late for them, I don't know and then I've heard that the Upper
Black Squirrel Creek project they don't want our money so it looks like we have 3 projects or at least two
of them that we might consider moving to some other project. Peter has some proposals for doing that

Wells: At a minimum could we U1VP. JeffeTSCl" Conntv thp fhll (..c;;:O,noo We know they are going, we
know they are domg their job, I'm not sure it makes sense to hold out money for a future year when we've
got money this year they can use that other people are not using.

Stanton:

I think that" s a possibility.

Evans: We should explore that. If they could use the money this year that would be a very.

Werner: Move that 30 back over to 20

Evans: Ya
2932
???? Audience participant - not clear
