A copy of the ~greement which defines the <br />future operations of the ~ew entity is provided in <br />the Appendix. ! <br /> <br />ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED WITH IRRIGATION. <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Several organizations exist which have involvement with <br />irrigation water in the service area. They may be <br />important sources for obtaining additional domestic <br />water supplies, and are there~ore briefly described <br />below. . <br /> <br />1. San Miguel Water conserva~cy District (SHWCD). <br /> <br />Originally formed in 1957,i SMWCD was established to <br />acquire conditional water 'rights and to act as the <br />contracting and administrative agency for operation <br />of the San Miguel Project; SMWCD owns conditional <br />water rights obtained in ~946 and 1965. The SMWCD <br />has a nine member Board o~ Directors which includes <br />representatives from eachjof the major irrigation <br />ditch companies in the service area. SMWCD has <br />sponsored a major study rdgarding water rights and <br />irrigation needs, but to ~ate, SMWCD is without <br />facilities. <br /> <br />2. Farmers' Water Development company. <br /> <br />"Farmers' Water" is a non-jprofit corporation which <br />owns and operates the existing Gurley Ditch and <br />Reservoir system located ~outh of and uphill from <br />Norwood. Farmers' Water ~iverts water from the <br />tributaries of Beaver Cre~k and transports water <br />through Gurley Ditch (whidh is sometimes referred to <br />as the Naturita Canal) to Gurley Reservoir. The <br />majority of the service a~ea receives irrigation <br />water from Farmers' Water.; The company is managed <br />by a board having six dir~ctors. <br />! <br /> <br />3. Lone Cone Ditch , Reservo~r company. <br /> <br />"Lone Cone" is also a non""profit corporation which <br />owns and operates the existing Lone Cone Reservoir <br />and Ditch System located south of and uphill from <br />Norwood. Lone Cone Reservoir serves the Norwood <br />area. The company is man~ged by a board having <br />three officers and directqrs. <br />! <br />I <br />Lilylands Canal and Reservoir company. <br />I <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />"Lily lands" is a mutual ditch company managed by two <br />
