I

I

I

The permitted use of the Pioneer-Union Ditch water right under the
plan would be municipal (including domestic and commercial).

I

As part of this plan, it would require that 10.8 acres of irrigated

land historically irrigated by the Pioneer-Union Ditch be dried up.

The historical consumptive use frow this acreage is equal to the deple-

tions caused by the customers of the Brook Forest Water District, and

thus the net effect on the stream system during the irrigation season is

preserved.

I

I

I

The district would have to provide storage water for release to the

stream system during the non-irrigation season if it is required by the

Water Court. The Pioneer-Union Ditch generally starts diverting water

sometime in April or early May and continues into October. If storage re-

leases for winter depletions are required, the district should stage the

development of such storage capabilities as needed in the future. Beside

winter release requirements, the storage requirements could include water

needed to release to the stream system when the Pioneer-Union Ditch water

rights are out of priority. A proposed water storage site is presented in

Chapter X.

I

I

I

I

The distribution of the average water requirements and the water avail-

able to meet these requirements is as follows:

I

Future District Water Diversion Requirements for
In-House Use.

172 A.F.

I

Average Annual Depletions from the Proposed Use.

17.2 A.F.

I

Average Annual Water Available from the pioneer-Union
Ditch Water Right.

30.95 A.F.

Average Annual Depletions from the Historical Use.

1.59 A.F./Acre

I

Irrigated Acreage Proposed to be Dried Up.

10.82.Acres

I

The district is considering filing for a 1978 storage right on Cub
Creek. Such storage right could yield additional water during periods
of high runoff. This water could be used to augment the water supplies
available to the district.

I

I

I

-27-
