The reservoir site is partially on land owned by Macht
Ranch, rnc., and the right-of-way for portions of the access road and
pipeline are controlled by Mr. J. W. Hershey or the Audubon Society.

I
I
I

The geotechnical investigation of the Snowball Creek dam site began in
August 1985 and consisted of drilling four holes approximately 120 feet
deep along the proposed axis. Test pits were excavated in the proposed
borrow area, and a seismic refraction survey was performed to estimate
quantities of material available for construction. Samples from the test
pits and drill holes were evaluated in the materials lab. Exploration and
laboratory results are presented in a geotechnical report found in Appendix
A.

I
I

Ground control for aerial mapping was set, and the reservoir area, dam
site and delivery routes were mapped in July 1985. The delivery routes
were mapped at a horizontal scale of 1" = 500' and a contour interval of 10
feet. Spot elevations along the centerline of the road, potential delivery
routes and along the Snowball Ditch from Turkey Creek to Snowball Creek
were also obtained. The reservoir basin and dam axis were mapped at a
horizontal scale of 1" = 200' and a contour interval of 5 feet. Spot
elevations were provided along the dam axis and creek bottom.

I
I

I
I
I

I
I
I
I

1-9
