<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />forward into the second part of the study and three new alternatives were developed and <br />evaluated for a total of six final alternatives, <br /> <br />A series of seven meetings have been held in Norwood during the second part of the study with <br />the SMWCD and with representatives of the three ditch companies to discuss work in progress. <br />In addition, a hydrology workshop was held in Montrose in March of 1988, a public meeting <br />was held in Norwood on December 15, 1988, and a demonstration plan workshop was held in <br />Denver in February 1989, <br /> <br />The results of the second part of the study are summarized in this report, A public meeting as <br />well as meetings with the SMWCD, the Southwest Water Conservation District, and the three <br />ditch companies were held in Norwood May 24, and 25, 1989, to discuss the results of the <br />study and the final study report. The conclusions and recommendations resulting from those <br />meetings are summarized in Chapter X of this report. <br /> <br />Public Information Program <br /> <br />An extensive public information program was utilized during the course of the study to inform <br />and to solicit advice from local study participants and the public. Task memorandums were <br />distributed at the completion of each major work task to the officers and directors of the <br />SMWCD and the three ditch companies, as well as local, state and federal agencies which <br />might have an interest in the study, A series of seven newsletters were sent to a mailing list of <br />more than two hundred names including local study participants, ditch company shareholders, <br />local chambers of commerce, local newspapers and all of the individuals and agencies on the <br />task memorandum mailing list. The newsletters were used to inform the public about the study <br />and to announce public meetings. <br /> <br />As described above under Study Process, meetings were held at regular intervals with the <br />SMWCD and with representatives of the three ditch companies to review work in progress. All <br />meetings were open to the public, Three public meetings were held at critical decision points in <br />the study process, The public meetings and several of the briefings with the SMWCD and the <br />ditch companies were announced by articles in the San Miguel Basin Forum. A summary of all <br />project meetings is included in Appendix F. <br /> <br />Two workshops were held with the leadership of the SMWCD and the three ditch companies for <br />detailed discussions of study area hydrology and the demonstration plan for Alternative 4. The <br />workshops were invaluable to both the local study participants and the CWCS/Boyle <br /> <br />7 <br />
