Four alternative water supply
systems are described in the Interim Report,

Between January 1986 and February 1988, nine meetings were held in Norwood to discuss the
scoping of the study and the work in progress, The last meeting was a public meeting on
February 29, 1988.

In response to comments and suggestions received on the Interim Report, a revised plan of
study was drafted and reviewed with the local study participants. The revised plan of the study
was adopted in June 1988 and provided for the following additional work tasks:

o The development and evaluation of several additional alternatives, including
investigations of a number of new reservoir sites.

o A program to measure flow and capacities of the irrigation ditches during the
1988 irrigation season.

o The tabulation and analysis of hourly streamflows for several years of record to
establish spring runoff patterns,

o Revising the suggested cropping patterns to more closely reflect existing
cropping patterns in the study area.

o Obtaining additional operational and financial information from the ditch
companies for use in the study.

o A demonstration plan to show, for one alternative, how a water accounting
system could work, how the alternative could be developed in stages, and
different institutional arrangements for implementation of the alternative,

o Further investigations on the feasibility of a San Miguel Canyon hydropower
project.

During the second part of the study, from March 1988 to April 1989, the additional work tasks
outlined above were completed. Three of the alternatives in the Interim Report were carried

6
