The magni-
tude of flood this structure will accommodate a) without diverting
flood flows into ~he adjacent drainage channel or b) without
overtopping the dam should be determined.

After determining the magnitude of flood which could be accommodated
without diversion of flows outside the Boxelder Drainage and your
liability if flood flows are diverted, you may wish to take action to
reduce or eliminate possible liability. After deciding on your
course of action, please inform this office of your findings unc]
intentions.

Because of the general condition of this structure, it is unsafe for
long-term storage of water. The reservoir is hereby restricted to zero stor-
age. The outlet must remain opened to a position that will release water at
the maximum rate that can be accommodated through your canal and overflow
system. Storage in the reservoir because of insufficient outlet capacity
cluring flooding conditions must he evacuated within seven (7) days. Please
notify this office when a) storage in the reservoir exceeds gage height 10.0
feet for five (5) consecutive days or b) it is foreseen that the reservoir
can not be evacuated within the seven (7) day period. An inspection of this
dam by our office will then be scheduled.

This restriction is the minimum action your company can take to improve
the safety of the dam. Additional actions may be necessary based upon the
recommendation of your engineer.. You are reminded that as owner, you are
liable for the safety of this structure and that these minimum requirements do
not relieve you of that liability.

Pleas~ submit a schedule for the completion of this requested.work to our
office by July 15, 1983.

Members of this office will be available to discuss the required engi-
neering work with you or your representatives. If you have any questions,
please contact Eric Wilkinson of the Dam Safety Branch of this office
(866-3581 - Office; 221-3066 - Home).

Q .,;&~

A.
