EAGLE REPORT
CHAPTER SIX
ESTIMATES OF COST

.

General

Estimates of cost have been prepared for the construction of the

proposed project facilities. Since the plans for the distribution sys-

tem, raw water line, storage, treatment plant, and settling ponds have

been proposed these estimates will include all of these categories. The

cost estimates are based on t~e criteria and general design considerations

presented in the plan of development. The basic costs were developed using

1976 prices. It is anticipated that contracts for construction will not be

awarded until 1977. On the b~sis of past history, cost of construction may

be expected to rise above the present level. For this reason, a plus fac-

tor of ten percent has been added to the construction costs of all facili-

ties.

.

A contingency factor, based on the unknowns involved, has also been

added. The construction problems for the proposed projects have been deter-

mined with reasonable accuracy, but experience dictates that a contingency

factor would be wise. The contingency factor for the various proposed im-

provements varies with the degree in difficulty in establishing the unit

prices.

The total project will be constructed in a period of less than one

year; therefore, no interest during construction was added to the cost

estimates.

Summary of Costs

The following pages include detailed cost estimates, summary of

costs, tables with the project costs summarized, and other information

pertinent to the construction of the proposed facilities.
- 53 -
