.

Let us assume that an aquifer in the Eagle area on the Brush

Creek is approximately 40 to 45 feet deep and after a ground water

inves~igation is made, it is determined that we can find five wells

which will yield 200 GPM. The cost of drilling and casing these wells

would be $2,000. After the wells were drilled and cased, it would

be necessary to furnish and install pumps and to build a pumphouse

to shelter these pumps. Electrical power would also have to be

brought in to power and operate the pumps. These items are estimated

to cost $42,500. The miscellaneous piping and valves are estimated

to cost $10,000. When the ground water investigation, estimated to

cost $15,000, is added to the other costs, the total is $69,500.

;J.-

When the engineering, contingencies, administrative costs, and other

costs are added, the total estimated construction costs would amount

to $110,000, This figure, amortized over a fifteen year period at

eight percent interest, would require about an $12,000 annual payment.

In addition to this, $12,000 would have to be paid for electricity.

Assuming that an aquifer, which would yield 1,000 GPM (200 GPM

in each of the five wells), can be located, the average annual cost

to the town of Eagle at today's water consumption rates would be about

$24,000.

.

Based on these cost estimates, the town may want to consider

further obtaining their domestic water from ground water sources.

However, there are many more ramifications which must be considered,

which are beyond the scope of this report, before the actual recom-

mendation of developing the ground water source.

This report does not recommend the pursuing of the ground water

source for the domestic water supply of the town of Eagle.

- 52 -
