<br />3.6 TRAVEL TIME <br />A travel time study was conducted to estimate the average changes in travel <br />time that could be expected under the six roadway relocation alternatives. <br />Table 3.3 shows the changes that might be expected in travel time between Denver <br />and Black Hawk, Golden and Idaho Springs, and Golden and Black Hawk. The changes <br />in travel time are for traffic currently using U.S. Highway 6 under average daily <br />driving conditions in good weather. <br /> <br />....~ <br /> <br />Average travel time between Black Hawk and Denver (via Sixth Avenue) is <br />expected to decrease by about four to six mi nutes under highway re 1 ocat i on <br />alternatives 4, 5 and 6. For the same alternatives, average travel time to <br />Golden is expected to increase by approximately 6 to 8 minutes. However, <br />construction of the proposed W-470 might reduce this increase in driving time <br />between Golden and mountain destinations. <br /> <br />3.7 RESULTS OF ROAD RELOCATION INVESTIGATIONS <br /> <br />The findings of the U.S. Highway 6 evaluation are summarized as follows: <br /> <br />1. Alternative No. 6 would be the most cost effective method for <br /> <br />relocation of U.S. Highway 6.
